What is Liposuction?
Whether as a stand-alone procedure or as an adjunct to other procedures, liposuction remains one of the most common techniques in Plastic Surgery. Areas to treat include the chin and jawline, bra roll, flanks, hips, thighs, and abdomen. There are two main criteria that make for a successful outcome with liposuction. First, the area to be treated should be localized. That is, that you can draw a circle around it. Second, that the skin overlying that area be in good condition so that we may reasonably predict that it will shrink after the liposuction. In general, cellulite does not respond well to liposuction. Areas with significant skin looseness also do not respond well to liposuction alone.
The Liposuction Consultation
The consultation begins with a discussion of expectations and desired outcomes. The areas of concern are evaluated and a treatment plan is outlined. The plan may be liposuction alone or it may include other procedures or we may decide that liposuction is not the best option and another, possibly nonsurgical option is more appropriate for you.
